Tonight we'll hear from Professor Lewin AO FAA FAHMS and A/Professor Jenkins AO about Sir Frank Macfarlane Burnet, his work and his impact on their work and on wider immunology. Burnet is remembered as one of Australia’s greatest biologists; from a boy who collected beetles to a Nobel Prize-winning scientist. His "clonal selection" theory transformed immunology, as did his important discoveries about viral diseases including influenza, herpes, poliomyelitis and Murray Valley encephalitis. Now, a
